We picked up our sweet pup yesterday and she has given us nothing but joy. Family Berners went above and beyond for our family and we couldn’t be more grateful. I will recommend them over and over again!
We previously bought a puppy from the previous owners who was an amazing dog, but unfortunately was diagnosed with epilepsy within the two year health guarantee. After a year, we decided to go ahead and get another puppy. We fully expected to pay for her, but Maynard gave her to us completely for free due to the breach of the previous contract. Today we picked up our little sweet 5 month old female Bernese Mountain Dog from FAMILY BERNERS in Westcliffe. We have named her Annie. We have waited and searched for our second Bernese Mountain dog for nearly 3 years. So happy we waited to find FAMILY BERNERS. Mr. MAYNARD, owner of Family Berners was so kind and patient with us as we took time to make a decision. We can tell this female puppy has been loved and taken care of very well. My Puppy Baxter was born September of 2022, he crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday. He was diagnosed with CHRONIC kidney failure. This was out of nowhere…. I recommend if you buy from this breeder that you get bloodwork ran to ensure your Berner is healthy. Baxter was only 1 year 8 months.
Nothing less than the best! Family Berner is the place to go when searching to add a new member into your family. When we first got our took our little girl we took her to the vet for an examine, and came back fully clear of any parasites, blood issue, or any health concerns. Family Berner has done a fantastic job with socializing their puppies, the vet has complimented the patience, and easy going nature of our puppy around stranger, barking dogs, and even shots.
Adopting is a scary and exciting process, but family Berner honestly made it 100 times easier, their family run business, and willingness to work with you through the long run to ensure that your puppy lives a long happy life. Can't recommend them enough!

Family Berners, has been a lifesaver in the adoption process, they helped us with navigating our HOAS pet application, and gave use the tools to make sure we can keep our puppy healthy and strong! If you're looking for a trustworthy breeder, there's no place better than Family Berner.
We got our pup (my sister in law got hers as well from the same litter) from Family Berners almost a year ago. We are so happy we got an extremely perfectly healthy, happy, fun, loving, and family oriented pup. Our Jean is a true part of our family and if we ever get another Berner I know we will go with Family Berners. Merle was so kind and professional with us, plus let us see the puppies he had available to see which one would steal our hearts and have a connection with (before having to make a deposit because a connection is huge for us). We had a great experience with Family Berners. We picked up our pooch (now named Wilson) on Charismas Eve. Merle was very pleasant, easy to work with and had our pup freshly bathed and ready to meet his new family. With it being Christmas time, we didn't get a chance to follow up on the complimentary personalized food stand. Is it still possible to get one? We can pick it up from you. Highly recommend!! We got our puppy from them and you can tell he was so loved and cared for. Grizzly is gentle and the biggest sweetie. He is SO good with our kids, loves to be right there with you. Such a happy good boy. You couldn’t find better dogs or easier people to work with. Merle was amazing!!
Merle was fantastic to work with. Although he was on vacation when we picked up our pup, he was extremely quick to respond and very helpful. Our Berner puppy was incredibly sweet, well mannered, and joyful from the start (got her at 5 months old) which I think says a lot about the breeders environment. Could not be happier with her and would highly recommend Family Berners to anyone.
These folks are FANTASTIC!! We recently got our new puppy, Thorin, from Family Berners after a looong and exhausting search looking for *just* the right breeder. We could not be happier!!! The puppies are all incredibly healthy, extremely loving, perfectly treated, and have clearly been raised with the utmost care! They are started on high quality food, love, and reared in the most wonderful home! We cannot thank Family Berners enough for our beautiful boy!! Our own vet was simply astonished with how healthy and fit he is! If you're looking for the best dang pupper you could ever want in your life, trust me, look no further. These folks and their incredible pups are worth every penny, every mile, and absolutely worthy of your consideration. I cannot sing their praises enough!

Hi Merle! I hope you’re doing well and staying cool this summer!! I just wanted to check in and let you know that the pup I brought home is doing wonderfully and could not be a better dog. He is a puppy and loves to chew of course (and dig) but overall he is the sweetest and has an amazing temperament. Likes to play (when he wants to). I think he may become a therapy dog for the children’s hospital or something with the elderly and disabled. He really is special and I worked with a trainer who agreed.
I believe his name was Carson but he is now a Charlie 🙂 Sir Charles Brown in fact. He is 95 pounds! I need to register him still with AKC but if you recall I was healing a broken leg so I have been a little slow to get to that. Thank you for helping to bring Charlie into my life and into the life of everyone who has met him! Everyone loves Charlie!! Stacy
